The Ningxia-Hunan UHV project represents China's pioneering initiative in establishing a wind power and photovoltaic base for external power supply in desert and Gobi areas. Upon completion, the project will facilitate the annual transportation of over 36 billion KWH of electricity from Ningxia to Hunan, significantly enhancing Hunan's power supply guarantee capacity. Meanwhile, the Hami-Chongqing UHV Project serves as the third DC channel of "Xinjiang power transmission", spanning a total length of 2290 kilometers from Barikun Converter Station in Hami, Xinjiang to Yubei Converter Station in Yubei, Chongqing via Xinjiang, Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Chongqing. With a total investment of 28.6 billion yuan and rated voltage and capacity at ±800 kV and 8 million kilowatts respectively.
